On the afternoon of October 27, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Jiangsu International Exchange Week on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application was held in Suzhou. The event brought together representatives from universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises both at home and abroad. Professor Hu Zhibin, President of Nanjing Medical University (NMU), attended the ceremony on behalf of the university. Hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Exchange Week saw NMU play a key role as one of the major participating institutions, taking the lead in organizing the Biomedical International Academic Special Event.
The ceremony commenced with a themed promotional video, followed by recorded addresses from Ren Youqun, Vice Minister of Education, and Jiang Yong, Director-General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. Both speakers praised the vital role of international collaboration across industry, education, research, and application in integrating high-level talent cultivation and scientific innovation. They also extended warm congratulations on the successful opening of this year’s Exchange Week.

During the announcement of the Top Ten Achievements in International Industry-Education-Research-Application Cooperation, the project titled “A Multinational Birth Cohort Research System and Information Platform for Heavy Metal Exposure”, jointly completed by NMU, the Harvard T.H. The project established standardized procedures suitable for cross-national birth cohort studies between China and Bangladesh and developed an innovative cloud-based information platform supporting Chinese, English, and Bengali. This achievement provides a robust scientific basis for the formulation of reproductive health policies in the Belt and Road Countries, underscoring NMU’s growing academic influence in the field of global health.

At the Appointment Ceremony for Supervisors of the Sino-Foreign Joint Graduate Training Program, President Hu Zhibin presented a letter of appointment to Dr. Kazuhiro Horimoto, Founder and CEO of SOCIUM Inc.
