On August 28th, the First Joint Meeting of the China-Arab States Medical Cooperation Alliance was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, as part of the Health and Wellness Exchange of the 7th China-Arab States Expo. At the meeting, the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University (also known as Jiangsu Province Hospital) officially joined the alliance as the only member institution from Jiangsu Province. Meanwhile, the hospital was elected as one of the first Chinese rotating members of the alliance, tasked with supporting the development of its operational and management mechanisms. This milestone lays a solid foundation for the hospital to extend its international engagement from bilateral pilot projects to broader multilateral cooperation platforms.

Established in September 2015, the alliance is dedicated to promoting health and wellness exchanges between China and Arab countries. In May 2024, the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum adopted the Action Plan for the Implementation of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum from 2024 to 2026, which specifically called for building an Internet + Healthcare exchange and cooperation platform to boost the alliance's growth. This joint meeting, the first since the alliance’s establishment, admitted 18 new Chinese institutions, including the First Affiliated Hospital, and two Arab institutions. Ain Shams University Hospital in Egypt, the First Affiliated Hospital’s partner under a paired cooperation mechanism, also joined the alliance upon JSPH’s recommendation.

As both a new member and a rotating unit of the alliance, the First Affiliated Hospitalwill use this multilateral framework to implement national strategic initiatives. The hospital will actively advance the 2025 Yinchuan Initiative of the China-Arab States Medical Cooperation Alliance and the Action Plan of the China-Arab States Medical Cooperation Alliance (2025-2027). It will continue to deepen its paired cooperation with Ain Shams University Hospital and further expand practical collaboration with institutions across the Arab region in areas such as health exchanges, medical innovation, talent cultivation, and smart healthcare. By contributing Jiangsu wisdom and sharing China’s experience, the hospital seeks to enhance the health and well-being of people in both China and Arab countries, and to play a greater role in building a global community of health for all.
