From March 26th to March 28th, at the invitation of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Shen Lizong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NMU Committee and Vice President, led a delegation to Macau to participate in a series of events celebrating MUST’s 25th anniversary. Staff from the Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs at NMU also accompanied the visit.
During the visit, Vice President Shen Lizong extended warm congratulations to MUST President Li Xingwei on behalf of NMU. He commended MUST for its remarkable growth and achievements since its founding at the time of Macau’s return to China, attributing its rapid development to the unique advantages of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy. Vice President Shen expressed his hopes for deeper collaboration between the two universities at this new stage and emphasized the importance of aligning with both national and regional development needs. He highlighted the significance of joint efforts in fostering innovation, contributing to the development of an innovation-driven nation, and advancing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The delegation visited the MUST History Museum and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, gaining valuable insights into the university’s academic heritage and cutting-edge research. They also engaged in discussions with representatives from the Macau Alumni Association, exploring new opportunities for cross-border academic resource sharing and talent development.
Since signing an intercollegiate cooperation agreement in 2021, both universities have seen a steady increase in faculty and student exchanges. Looking ahead, NMU will leverage the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao Alliance mechanism to further strengthen collaboration with MUST in areas such as industry-academia-research innovation and the commercialization of scientific research achievements. This partnership will support Macau’s efforts in building an “International Science and Technology Innovation Center” and contribute to the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta.
