Secretary Lan Qing Visits Universities in the UK and Other Countries for Exchanges

Recently, a delegation led by Lan Qing, Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Medical University(NMU) Committee, visited universities in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Denmark to renew cooperation agreements and conduct high-level talent recruitment. The delegation included representatives from the Party Committees Development Planning Department, the Personnel Office, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and the School of Stomatology, NMU.

During their visit to the UK, the delegation visited the University of Sheffield, the University of Dundee, and the University of Edinburgh. At the University of Sheffield, the two universities engaged in in-depth discussions on scientific research collaboration and talent cultivation in the field of stomatology. The School of Stomatology, NMU signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Sheffield. Lan Qing and the delegation also interacted with Chinese scholars and international students at the university, promoting our institutions high-level talent recruitment policies and welcoming outstanding overseas students to join NMU.

During their visit to the University of Dundee, the delegation was received by Professor Iain Gillespie, Vice-Chancellor of the university. Both sides held in-depth discussions on collaboration in stomatology research, medical-engineering integration, and talent cultivation. Both parties expressed their desire to expand practical cooperation in more fields in the future. On behalf of NMU, Lan Qing renewed the framework cooperation agreement with Vice-Chancellor Iain Gillespie, marking a new phase in the partnership that began in 2015.

At the University of Edinburgh, Lan Qing met with Vice-Principal James Smith, who is responsible for international cooperation. During the meeting, Lan Qing expressed gratitude for the University of Edinburghs support for NMU student exchange programs and expressed hope to strengthen collaboration through more diverse forms of exchange. Vice-Principal James Smith expressed confidence in the partnership between the two universities and hoped to expand cooperation in areas such as student exchanges and faculty training. Lan Qing, on behalf of NMU, renewed the framework cooperation agreement with Vice-Principal James Smith, laying a solid foundation for closer collaboration in the future.

In Stockholm, Sweden, the delegation led by Secretary Lan Qing visited the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institute. The two sides exchanged ideas on research collaboration in integrated epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, and other fields. Secretary Lan Qing expressed hope that the two institutions could leverage their respective strengths to deepen scientific cooperation in the fields of public health and preventive medicine, jointly contributing to the building of a global community of health for all.

Following this, Secretary Lan Qing and the delegation held a meeting with Chinese scholars and overseas student representatives from Karolinska Institute. During the meeting, they provided a detailed introduction to NMU’s talent recruitment policies. Sun Bo, Director of the Personnel Office, NMU, elaborated on the specific measures and support systems for talent recruitment. The attending scholars and students expressed their enthusiasm for potential collaboration and exchange opportunities with NMU in various forms, making the discussion lively and productive.

During their visit to Denmark, the delegation led by Secretary Lan Qing visited the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University for exchanges and discussions. At the University of Copenhagen, the delegation visited the Department of Pharmacy. Secretary Lan Qing expressed hope that the two universities could further expand cooperation in areas such as scientific research collaboration and talent cultivation.

At Aarhus University, the delegation visited the Department of Biomedicine, the Department of Clinical Medicine, and related laboratories. They also held a meeting with Chinese scholars and students from the university. During the meeting, Director Sun Bo introduced NMU’s talent recruitment policies and expressed hope that more outstanding young scholars from abroad would join NMU.
