President Hu Zhibin and Delegation Visit Hong Kong and Macao for Exchanges

Recently, President Hu Zhibin led a delegation to visit universities in Hong Kong and Macao for exchanges. The delegation included representatives from the President’s Office, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, Research Administration Office, and School of Pharmacy.

At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), President Hu attended the annual conference and presidents’ forum of the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Cooperation Alliance. The event brought together over 130 leaders and representatives from 38 member universities across Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macao. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as “Opportunities and Challenges for Higher Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data” and “University Research and Industrial Technological Innovation”, focusing on talent cultivation, education reform, scientific innovation, and industry-academia collaboration. During the conference, President Hu held discussions with PolyU President Teng JinGuang, expressing mutual interest in advancing practical cooperation in areas such as medical-engineering integration.

At the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), President Hu and his delegation were warmly received by MUST President Joseph Lee. The two sides exchanged views on talent development, scientific research, and disciplinary advancement. The delegation also visited MUST Hospital and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine.

At the University of Macau (UM), President Hu and UM President Song Yonghua witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nanjing Medical University’s School of Pharmacy and UM’s Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences. The MoU will guide collaborative efforts in pharmaceutical research, fostering synergy in talent cultivation and scientific innovation. The delegation also toured UM’s State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, University Gallery, and Library.

During their stay in Macao, President Hu and the delegation met with alumni representatives from the Nanjing Medical University’s Macao Alumni Chapter.

This visit will significantly strengthen academic exchanges and collaboration between Nanjing Medical University and higher education institutions in Hong Kong and Macao. Moving forward, all parties will leverage their complementary strengths to jointly advance the development of high-level universities in the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao region.
