At the opening ceremony on August 13, Vice President Feng Feng welcomed the international students and highlighted the university’s commitment to open education and collaborations with universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally. Vice President Feng also noted that under the guidance of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the “Splendid Jiangsu” International Summer School is an important component of the university’s “Double First-Class” internationalization strategy. Li Qinjing, a fourth-level consultant from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange at the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, emphasized that the “Splendid Jiangsu” International Summer School has created a valuable platform for interaction between Chinese and international university students. He encouraged the students to seize this opportunity, learn with humility, and engage in friendly exchanges.

This summer school program, anchored by the university’s “Double First-Class” disciplines and national key laboratories, invited over ten experts from fields like public health, basic medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, and public management to engage in the teaching process. The curriculum included international courses, seminars, research projects, humanities lectures, and cultural experiences. Students worked in groups, sharing insights on global health and medical humanities. Additionally, students visited the affiliated Jiangning Hospital, BenQ Hospital, and historical and cultural sites in Nanjing, Yangzhou, and Changzhou. They gained insights into the operations of top-tier medical institutions and hospital departments and explored local neighborhoods to immerse themselves in the richness of Chinese culture. Through a variety of learning experiences, students acquired advanced theoretical knowledge, research methods, and skills, while appreciating the beauty of “Splendid Jiangsu” and the allure of Chinese culture.
