Established in 2004, the Experiment Teaching Center of Basic Medicine was ratedas the Jiangsu Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in 2005 and included in the first batch of national experiment teaching demonstration centers of medicine in 2006.Currently, the center has three experiment teaching platforms (morphology, function and human anatomy) anddeveloped 3 national quality courses and 2 national quality resource sharing courses, providing education platforms for medical studentsof undergraduates, international and postgraduates programs on clinical medicine, stomatology, pediatrics, other medicaland related specialties at NMU. Meanwhile, the center has established a “College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Center” and formed an open experimental platform management and operation mechanism in line with the characteristics of medical education to provideessential support for the innovation and entrepreneurship education of undergraduates.
The Experiment Teaching Center of Basic Medicine adopts the management protocol headed by the director and administered by the NMU and the school. It has 3 deputy directors correspondingly taking charge of the daily operation, experimental teaching, and students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training.The center has an excellent teaching team with rich practical teaching experience and passion forreforming basic medical experimenteducation. In the past 5 years, it has obtained 1 Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, 4 provincial and municipal teaching achievement awards, and 15 teaching research projects at or above the provincial and municipal levels; published more than 100 teaching research papers, edited and participated in the editing of more than 10 textbooks, and independently compiled over 10 experimental textbooks and handouts; instructed college students to obtain 65 College Student Practice Innovation Training Projects above the provincial level, participated in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at the provincial level and above, such as the Basic Medical Innovation Research & Experimental Design Forum for College Students, and won more than 20 awards. In the last 3 years, it has obtained 66 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, published 68 SCI-indexed papers, granted with 10 patents. Currently, the center has 1 National Model Teacher, 1 National Excellent Teaching Team, and 1 Excellent Teaching Team recognized by the “Qinglan Project”of Jiangsu Province.
Adhering to the principle of “Consolidating Resources, Integrating Science and Education, Inheriting while Innovating, Openingand Sharing", the center insists on the teaching philosophy of “Student-Oriented, Focusing on Cultivating Practical Innovation Abilities of Medical Students”, continuously innovates basic medical practice teaching models in practice and provides a high-quality practical teaching platform for NMUin response tocultivating first-class medical talents and develop “New Medical Science”.
