The NMU First Affiliated Hospital (Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital, Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Clinical Medicine, Jiangsu Provincial Red Cross Hospital). As a W&C branch hospital of Jiangsu Province Hospital, Jiangsu Women and Children Health Hospital is under theintegrated management.
The hospital (predecessor: clinic affiliated to the Provincial Medical College of Jiangsu established in 1936) has a history of 85 years. It is a Class III Type A comprehensive hospital in Jiangsu Province, covering an area of 245 mu, with an existing construction area of 410,000 m2, total fixed assets (net value) of RMB 2.67 billion, 5,200 hospital beds (actual), and about 7,000 employees.
As a national major epidemic rescue and treatment base and the carrier of the national (Jiangsu) emergency medical aid team, the hospital undertakes national diagnosis and treatment capacity improvement initiatives for difficult and complicated diseases. Currently, the hospital has 1 national key discipline, 18 national clinical key specialties; 5 provincial clinical medical research centers, 1 strength discipline of Jiangsu universities, 2 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial cultivation and construction point for “National Key Specialty”, 4 provincialengineering and clinical medicine centers under the “Stronger Healthcare via Through Science and Education”campaign,13 key medical disciplines (laboratories), 5 provincialmedical diagnosis and treatment centers, 8 provincial specialty (disease) diagnosis and treatment centers, and 34 provincial key clinical specialties.
Establishedon the basis of the hospital, Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Clinical Medicine is structured with 1 state key laboratory (Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine (Clinical Center)) and 1 Key Laboratory of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Key Laboratory of Living Donor Liver Transplantation).The National Drug Clinical Trial Institution has 28 drug clinical trial specialties and 1 Phase-I clinical trial laboratory certified by the WHO/SIDCER and AAHRPP certification.
The hospital is a clinical teaching base of Nanjing Medical University (NMU). The First Clinical Medical School is located in the hospital and subject to integrated management.There are 6 departments, 43 teaching and research sections, and two first-level disciplines of clinical medicine and medical technology. Among them, clinical medicine has a post-doctoral research mobile station, covering 29 level 2 and level 3 clinical disciplines.The hospital is the supporting unit for the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Clinical Medicine and a national demonstration base for standardized training of resident physicians.
