Launch of the NMU“Medicine and Education to the West”Qinghai Program

On June 16, NMU launched its “Medicine and Education to the West-Qinghai Program”. Expert representatives from the No.4 School of Clinical Medicine and its affiliated hospital went to Qinghai Province for conducting medical services. The specific contents of the program are: No.4 School of Clinical Medicine and its affiliated hospital signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement with Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital; both sides conducted communication and seminars on the disciplinary construction; boots-on-the-ground instructions of clinical experts; experts travelling to Haibei Prefecture of Qinghai Province to offer medical services, etc.

The signing ceremony of the No.4 School of Clinical Medicine and its Affiliated Hospital and Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement was held in Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital. Lv Ling, the dean of No.4 School of Clinical Medicine and its affiliated hospital signed this agreement with Zhang Qiang, the President of Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital.

By the agreement, both parties will conform to CPC’s major strategic deployment on the coordination between eastern and western regions in the new stage, in accordance with the requirements of NMU “Medicine and Education to Qinghai Province” program, a program echoing the call for studying the history of CPC and doing real work, and in light of the principle of “cooperation and mutual benefits, advantages complemented, mutual integration and learning, mutual development”, both parties will tap into their own resource advantages, so as to build a comprehensive, robust and sustainable strategic cooperation consortium, casting a cooperative development system featuring mutual-supports in medical expertise, inter-connected in education practices, opened up in research exchange and reciprocally shared in talent service.

Both parties will take bold cooperation steps in teaching cooperation, research synergies,talent pooling, disciplinary joint construction, academic exchange and medical cooperation and others. Through exploiting, integrating and expanding the resources, parties will work to improve their medical teaching and research development and better serve the construction of “Healthy China” and “Healthy Qinghai”.

Experts from 7 affiliated hospitals to the No.4 School of Clinical Medicine reached out to dock with the corresponding departments of Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital. Jiang Qin, the President of the Affiliated Ophthalmology Hospital, and Shen Rong, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Affiliated Maternity Hospital, along with 16 experts and 9 doctoral candidates, made exchanges with local medical workers from the Ophthalmology Department, Reproductive Center and other departments. The contents of the exchanges covered teaching, ward rounds, case discussion and operation guidance, among other affairs.

On June 17, 10 experts from each affiliated hospital also went to Haibei Prefecture People’s Hospital to offer free-of-charge medical services, lectures and seminars and other activities. They provided free-of-charge medical services to over 400 local people.

During the exchanges, the members of Medicine to the West Delegation visited Dr. Lu Yansong, the alumnus of 1989, 32-year long veteran physician working with Hepatological Surgery Department of Qinghai Provincial People’s Hospital, as well as the Ph.D medical aid team members to Qinghai Province: their contribution spirits to the western regions and adherence to their posits were highly appraised by Qi Jirong from the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department, Yu Zhangbin from the Pediatric Department of the Affiliated Maternity Hospital.
