On July 30, Jia Jia and the Team from the Pathogen Biology Department of the School of Basic Medicine won the 3rd prize of intermediary contest section of local colleges and universities in the 1st China Higher Education Institution Teaching Innovation Competition.
Guided by the Higher Education Division of China Ministry of Education and hosted by Chinese Association of Higher Education, this competition carried the theme of “promoting pedagogic innovation and casting the superb courses”. Inspired by the philosophy of “new engineering science, new agricultural science, new medical science and new liberal arts”, the competition stressed on teaching innovation, promoted learning revolution, urged higher education faculties to be committed to teaching and education, so as to form the value pursuit and conscious actions for excellent teaching activities, create the beacons of higher education teaching reform and promote in full-swing the “quality revolution” of higher education.
Jia Jia and the Team submitted a contest piece titled Innovation in Medical Microbiology Teaching Based on PRIDE Teaching Mode, show-casing the teaching innovation thoughts, practice method and excellent effects of Medical Microbiology course. Challenged by the COVID-19 outbreak in Nanjing City, Jia Jia was not able to participate in the competition in person, but she made staggering presentation online.
This contest was structured with 2 tracks- ministerial-affiliated universities and provincial-affiliated universities. Faculties were classified into 6 groups ranging from Full Professor Group, Associate Professor Group, Lecturer Group and below. Contestants will go through 3 rounds of contesting: university preliminary, provincial semi-final and national final. A total of 1,071 higher institutions from 31 regions participate the contests. A total of 50,386 faculty delegates joined the university preliminary, 12,625 qualified into the provincial semi-final and 198 teams made into the national final. With 6-month-long active preparation and fiercely competitive rounds from university preliminary, to provincial preliminaries and semi-finals, Jia Jia and the Team jumped off the pages from 245 teams of 48 Jiangsu-based undergraduate institutions, and was honored the Special Prize of the 1st China Higher Education Institution Teaching Innovation Competition in Jiangsu Province. The pathogenic biology teaching team won the Teaching Organization Prize. They will join with other 8 teams from Jiangsu Province to participate the national finals.
