Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic radiology is a branch of clinical medicine dealing with the use of medical imaging in diagnosis of diseases. As a formal textbook of radiology, it contains X-ray diagnosis, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasonic medicine and interventional radiology, and put emphasis on traditional X-ray diagnosis.

In accordance with the request of training purpose, as well as the demand of school of international education of Nanjing medical university, the textbook manifests ideological, scientific, inspirational and modernizing nature by putting the emphasis on the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic technical ability. It embodies the request of advances, extensiveness and intensiveness.  

The important points for the students to master are basic theories, basic knowledge and basic technical ability of this course (the three “basic”). This textbook includes general introduction (basic theory of various imaging modalities followed by information radiology of development and evolution in recent years), normal anatomy and manifestation of basic lesions expressed by all kinds of imaging modalities, and consists of imaging diagnosis of some common or frequent diseases in all systems of body, which not only yields an academic systematization and integrity, but also is helpful in training students’ clinical practice and creative thoughts , as well as is an excellent consultant of junior residents in daily clinical practice.

 

Teaching requirement

1 To get a general idea of applied principals, diagnostic values and limitations, status of clinical work, as well as the development of diagnostic radiology.

2 To be familiar with methods of common radiological examinations, their attentions about pre- & post-examinations and applications in order to carry out them correctly in clinical work.

3 To master the way of observing and analyzing images and the principles of making proper diagnosis.

4 To get knowledge of normal anatomy and findings of basic lesions of various imaging modalities and to know about typical imaging manifestations of common diseases in skeletal-muscular, respiratory and digestive systems.

5 To know about normal anatomy and imaging findings of several common diseases in head, neck and central neural system.

6 To know about the concept, values and limitations of interventional radiology in treatment of diseases.
