Cell Biology

MBBS students are required to take a course in Cell Biology during the 3rd semester of their study. All students should finish 57 class hours of cell biology lessons, including 39 theoretical class hours and 18 class hours for practice. At the end of this semester, students will have examinations for both theoretical and experimental lessons. The course must be completed with score of 60 or better.
The fundamental purpose of cell biology course is to foster scientific thinking skills and values of medical science. This course deals with the biology of cells of higher organisms: The structure, function, and biosynthesis of cellular membranes and organelles, cell growth; transport, receptors, and cell signaling, the cytoskeleton ,the extracellular matrix, and cell movements, chromatin structure and RNA synthesis, etc.
This course is offered by the teachers in the department of cell biology. At present, the department has many specialists in molecular and cellular biology, in areas of research in the field of epigentics of cancer and chemotherapy resistance, protein engineering and biotherapy, targeted drug develevpment,etc.
