On June 9th, 2018, the “China Cell Valley” Project Launching Ceremony and Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Cell Engineering Signing Ceremony were grandly held in the exhibition center in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area. The attending guests included member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Nanjing Municipal Party Secretary Mr. Jinghua Zhang, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Party Working Committee Deputy Secretary Mr. Qun Luo, the Deputy Mayor of Nanjing Mr. Yuejian Jiang, the President of NMU Prof. Hongbing Shen, the Vice President of NMU Prof. Jianqing Li, Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering Dr. Xuehao Wang, Dr. Guangji Wang, Dr. Zhigang Tian.
The launching ceremony was hosted by Mr. Qun Luo, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Party Working Committee Deputy Secretary. The Vice Dean of Jiangsu Translational Medicine Research Institute and Vice Dean of Institute of Translational Medicine of NMU Dr. Ling Lyu and the Deputy Director of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Biological Medicine Valley Development Center Mr. Shoumiao Xu introduced the development plans of Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Cell Engineering and China Cell Valley. The President of NMU Prof. Hongbing Shen and the Deputy Mayor of Nanjing Mr. Yuejian Jiang delivered speeches. Then the Deputy Director of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Management Committee Mrs. Chanmei Chen and the Vice President of NMU Prof. Jianqing Li signed strategic cooperation contract. In the end, the “China Cell Valley” project was officially launched which was witnessed by the leaderships of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Municipal Government and experts.
Cell therapy, as the most revolutionary technology in biological medicine field, has enormous potential in developing new therapies in assorted refractory diseases, such as cancers, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune diseases. Recently, as the global revolutionary breakthrough in cell therapy technology, the increase in the amount of successful clinical cases and patents, and the warming of the government policies of all countries, the cell therapy industry will embrace an explosive development stage. In China, the core cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, regard cell therapy as an important development direction of strategic emerging industries. Nanjing has preferable research and development technology, clinical and industrial bases in cell therapy field. Constructing “China Cell Valley” project and giving priority to developing cell industry have vitally important significances in tightly connecting Nanjing with the national need of significant technology, constructing the pioneering advantage of Nanjing in China’s cell industry, creating new growth pole in biological medicine industry, improving the capability of independent innovation and developing Nanjing as the famous city of health service and life technology in China.
“China Cell Valley” is a feasible project confirmed by the core executive team of NMU famous experts and scholars after abundant industry researches. Under the positive promotion and coordination by CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Jiangsu Provincial Government and CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Municipal Government, “China Cell Valley” officially landed at Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, becoming one of the major projects in building “Gene and Cell City” of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Management Committee. Nationwide and even world-wide, “China Cell Valley” is the paragon of cell industry concentration and planning. This world-leading project will serve the research and implementation of innovative cell therapy and create high-value work opportunities and ten billions production value in cell industry by full cooperation of hospitals, universities and corporations. Based on the state key laboratory of NMU, “China Cell Valley” is scheduled and operated by Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Cell Engineering which is set up by NMU scientific research innovation team, core executive team and Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Biological Medicine Valley. According to the schedule, the project will establish three platforms, three centers and one base including cytology public scientific research platform, cell biology technology transfer platform, academician and expert service platform, cell preparation center, cell quality control and testing center, cell storage center and life scientific education demonstration base.
