To further standardize clinical teaching, improve teaching quality, strengthen teaching team construction, and promote clinical teaching toward the direction of normalization, standardization and quality homogenization, Nanjing Medical University held a Young Clinical Teacher Training from September 23 to September 25. A total of 306 clinical teachers and administrative staff in the management departments of science and teaching affairs from 27 affiliated hospitals and 34 teaching hospitals participated in the training.
Li Jianqing, Vice President of Nanjing Medical University, attended the opening ceremony and made a speech. He pointed out that a clinical teaching team of high standard, extraordinary quality and enthusiasm is the prerequisite and foundation for nurturing high-quality medical talents. He urged that all clinical teachers grasp new teaching knowledge, learn about advanced teaching modes and methods, thus offering effective impetus to clinical teaching.
A number of people gave presentations during this event, including Gao Xingya, Director of Teaching Affairs, Zhang Zhengdong, Director of Science & Technology, Chi Baorong, a professor from the Department of Medical Affairs of Jilin University, Pan Hui, Director of Education of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and Qing Ping, Director of Teaching Affairs of West China School of Medicine / West China Hospital of Sichuan University. They gave lectures on such topics as Analysis on Education, Teaching and Research, Clinical Trial Design and Research Project Application, Experience and Exploration on Teachers’ Training in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and Professional Qualification of Clinical Teachers. Adopting multiple methods such as demonstration, operation, videos, discussion, experts of clinical teaching inspection, including Wu Wenxi, Dai Lingjuan, Hong Ying, Zhang Shuying, as well as senior clinical teachers, elaborated on the normalization of clinical teaching, PBL concept and procedure regulation, physical examination, basic clinical operation and simulation of diagnosis and treatment. NMU organized an examination after the training program, and issued qualification certificates to the teachers who passed the examination.
Wang Lin, Vice President of Nanjing Medical University, attended the closing ceremony and made a speech. He emphasized the great influence of a good teacher exerted on students. He expected that teachers should be the models for students, and apply the content and achievement of this training program to clinical teaching, and make efforts to nurture excellent medical talents.
In the closing ceremony, representatives of various departments expressed their feelings and experience. They all said that they had gained a lot from the training, deepened the understanding of clinical teaching, and enhanced the sense of responsibility and mission of nurturing medical talents.
