Nanjing Medical University and Southeast University signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in Conference Room A218 in De Xin Building on the afternoon of September 13, 2016. The signing ceremony was attended by leaders from both Southeast University and Nanjing Medical University, including Yi Hong, Wang Baoping, Zheng Jiamao, Ren Lijian, Wu Gang and Chen Qi, Shen Hongbing, Zhou Yafu, Shi Jinlou, Xia Youbing, Wang Ruixin, Lu Xiang, Li Jianqing, Ma Shuiqing, as well as directors and deans of relevant departments and schools from both universities.
Chen Qi, Party Secretary of Nanjing Medical University, warmly welcomed the delegation from Southeast University, led by its Party Secretary Yi Hong. Chen said that the construction of ‘Healthy China’ was made strategic arrangement in the National Medicine and Healthcare Conference, bringing new opportunities of development to medicine and relevant fields. In such a context, it is of great importance for the two universities to enhance cooperation and complement each other in advantages and features. He pointed out that bilateral strategic cooperation would increase the overall capacity of both universities, facilitate the construction of first-class universities with first-class disciplines and the development of high-level universities of Jiangsu Province, improve the regional economic and social development, thus boosting the building of ‘Healthy Jiangsu’ and ‘Healthy China’. He hoped that on the basis of the agreement, two universities would implement cooperative affairs, take advantage of each other's strengths, and expand the scope of impacts.
Yi Hong, Party Secretary of Southeast University, briefly introduced the history of bilateral cooperation. He expressed that sharing a good basis and broad cooperative fields, two universities should actively seek cooperation, achieve mutual benefits, strike a win-win result through complementing each other in features and advantages, highlighting the new growth points created by the combination of medicine and engineering and increasing the width and depth of cooperation. He hoped that the two parties would take the agreement as an opportunity to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and exchange, thus promoting the development of both universities.
In the ceremony, Shen Hongbing, President of NMU, and Wang Baoping, Vice President of SEU, signed the Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between SEU and NMU. According to the agreement, with the purpose and goal of complementary advantages, strong relations, mutual trust, mutual benefits and win-win results, two parties will enhance cooperation in such areas as talent nurturing, scientific research, resource sharing, etc. They conducted discussions and exchanges on the construction of first-class universities with first-class disciplines and development of high-level universities in Jiangsu Province, as well as cultural development of universities and other issues.
After the ceremony, SEU delegation paid a visit to the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine of NMU and the Affiliated Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital.
