From May 1-7, 2016, an NMU delegation, led by Vice President Wang Lin, visited Florida Atlantic University and Creighton University of the U.S. The delegates and their hosts held talks on student exchange, teachers’ training programs, cooperative research projects, etc. The delegation was composed of representatives from International Cooperation & Exchange Office, Office of Teaching Affairs, School of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, and School of Rehabilitation.
During the visit to Florida Atlantic University, Vice President Wang Lin met with FAU’s chairman of International Education Committee, dean of Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, dean of Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, etc. They reached an initial consensus on cooperation in medical research, nurturing of students, transformation of medical curriculum, and construction of training base for teachers.
President Hendrickson of Creighton University cordially met with NMU delegation. Two parties discussed curriculum arrangement so as to streamline the transition from bachelor programs of Nanjing Medical University in pharmacy (including clinical pharmacy) and nursing to master’s or Ph.D. programs of Creighton University. The two parties signed an agreement on that matter. In addition, they also had deep communication on student exchange, teachers’ training and cooperative research.
This visit has broadened the channels for international exchange and cooperation, including such works as NMU students visiting foreign universities, young teachers receiving training overseas and the introduction of international courses, thus nurturing medical talents with international visions.
