Nanjing Medical University held the 7th Scientific and Technological Work Conference in Jiangning Campus on May 13,2016. The conference was attended by Hong Liu, vice chief of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education， Hong Hao, Associate Counsel of Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning, Yang Tianhe, director of Social Development and Basic Research Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Shang Qingfei, director of Jiangsu Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences. Nearly 300 participants took part in the conference, including leaders of the University Chen Qi, Shen Hongbing, Zhou Yafu, Xia Youbing, Wang Ruixin, Lu Xiang, Wang Lin and Li Jianqing, as well as heads and teachers from relevant departments, schools and affiliated hospitals. The conference was chaired by Chen Qi, Party Secretary of Nanjing Medical University.
Li Jianqing, Vice President of Nanjing Medical University, made a scientific and technological work report in the conference. He summarized the achievements and experience during the period of 12th Five-Year Plan, analyzed the current situation and challenges in scientific and technological work, and arranged the main tasks and measures for the period of 13th Five-Year Plan.
Hong Hao, Associate Counsel of Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning, expressed a high appraisal on the scientific and technological accomplishment achieved by NMU in the period of 12th Five-Year Plan. He expected that more innovative talents will emerge in the period of 13th Five-Year Plan. In the perspective of general situations of higher education in Jiangsu Province and the reality of scientific and technological work of Nanjing Medical University, he hoped that NMU would enhance the development of science and technology as well as strengthening collaborative innovation with a global view, thus making greater contribution to the regional healthcare undertakings.
In the concluding speech, Shen Hongbing, President of Nanjing Medical University, expressed his gratitude to leaders of various levels, faculties, students and medical staff for their long-term support. In accordance with the strategy and measures of scientific and technological work of NMU, he pointed out that we should adhere to the leading role of science and technology, advancing the construction of a high-level research-oriented medical university; we should promote the development of research and education, enhancing the core competence of teachers and teaching resources; we should improve the mechanism to create a good atmosphere for the scientific and technological integration of the University and hospitals.
NMU honored the outstanding individuals and units in the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Three representatives, namely Shen Rong, President of Affiliated Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Chen Yun, a professor of the School of Pharmacy, Lv Ling, an associate professor of the First Affiliated Hospital, made oral presentations in the conference. Two lectures were given by Sun Yinghao, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of the Second Military Medical University, and Qian Xiaoyong, director of the Department of Resource Allocation and Management of China Ministry of Science and Technology. The lecture titles were respectively Physicians’ Thinking and Central Budget for Science & Technology and Reform of Project Management.
