Doctorate Team from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University Brings Medical Service to Community

Pubdate:2016-06-16

A voluntary medical service was provided by a doctorate team in Hai De Wei Cheng Community on June 5, 2016. The team was composed of 15 experts from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.

A continuous stream of residents, the majority of whom are the elderly, came for health-care counseling and disease diagnosis. Experts had a face-to-face communication with residents, seeking the causes of diseases, considering the treatment plan. The team was busy with taking blood pressure, testing blood sugar and bone mineral density, and answering all kinds of questions.

‘I saw a crowd gathering in the square of our community when I was on the way from the food market to my house. The neighbors told me that physicians from the Second Affiliated Hospital of NMU were holding an activity of medical service here.’ Grandpa Liu told the reporter. He hurried to fetch his X-ray film to consult the expert. The expert told him that his disease did not recrudesce during the past two years, suggesting no big problem would occur. Grandpa Liu showed his smile from the bottom of his heart.

Since the medical reform commenced last year, the doctorate team of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University has held the monthly activity of going into communities to offer medical service. The participants are directors of clinical departments and academic leaders. He Songming, director of Publicity Department of the Hospital, said that experts are very busy with daily clinical work and seldom have weekends to rest. As for voluntary medical service like this, they take active part in it without any complaints. Take today’s activity for example, they got up very early in the morning, saw patients in the ward first, and then rushed to the community.

Chen Chunyan, Party secretary of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, pointed out that voluntary medical service can facilitate direct communication between experts and ordinary people. We can help them to fight against discomfort and diseases while making friends with them, thus harmonizing patient-doctor relations. Besides, we gave health-care lectures once a month. The combination of these activities is of great importance and we will persist in doing it.
