Recently, the Government Procurement of Jiangsu has publicized the bidding result of the expanded project of ‘Elegant Arts into Campus in Jiangsu Province’. It is delightful to see that the ‘Ode to Joy--Chinese and Foreign Classic Symphony and Orchestral Concert’ by the Wind Orchestra of Nanjing Medical University’s won the bid. It is the first time for our student organizations to win such a bid at the provincial level.
The expanded project of ‘Elegant Arts into Campus in Jiangsu Province’ is organized by the Department of Publicity of the Communist Party of China Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Jiangsu Department of Education and Jiangsu Department of Finance, and implemented by Jiangsu Provincial Office of Bidding Administration. The project is aimed to select high-quality art groups publicly and edify the students with elegant arts and enrich cultural and recreational activities on campus at the same time.
The Wind Orchestra of Nanjing Medical University, officially set up in October 2012, is a well-constructed college students’ art group in Jiangsu Province. After several years’ construction, the wind orchestra was designated by the Jiangsu Government as a priority group among college students’ art organizations in Jiangsu Province in July 2010. The Wind Orchestra of Nanjing Medical University has won the first prize of College Students’ Art Show of Jiangsu Province consecutively in the past three years. Moreover, the wind orchestra won the first prize in the 4th National College Students’ Art Show in 2015. With the effort and support of the University and the members, the wind orchestra will take this expanded project as an opportunity, and greatly improve its construction and connotation. Last but not least, every student in the wind orchestra will make every effort to enhance their playing skills and make more contributions to the construction of humanistic atmosphere on campus.
