A Strategic Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Nanjing Medical University and Nanjing University of the Arts

On the morning of January 8, Nanjing Medical University (NMU) and Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA) embarked on a significant partnership by signing a strategic cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony was held at NUA, marking a new chapter in the collaboration between these two prestigious institutions. The ceremony saw the attendance of notable figures including Hao Lin, a Level II Bureau Rank Official of Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Development and Reform, Yuan Jingyu, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education , Yun Qicheng, Head of Wujin District, Changzhou City, and the university leadership teams from both NMU and NUA. Leaders from relevant departments, and colleges of the two universities were also present to witness this momentous occasion. 

Yu Feng, the Party Secretary of NUA, extended a warm welcome to the NMU delegation, highlighting the partnership as a "deep integration" of NMU's spirit of "extensive learning to refine skills and moral integrity to achieve goodness" with NUA's ethos of "embracing broad and profound beauty, and thriving through constant change." He encouraged both universities to express advantages in their respective fields, strengthen cooperation and exchanges, and undertake the shared mission of propelling Jiangsu's high-quality development. He envisioned this partnership as a catalyst for releasing the synergistic effect of "medicine + art," setting a new benchmark for the development of new liberal arts, new medical science, and new arts, and exploring innovative avenues for disciplinary integration and development. 

Lan Qing, the Secretary of the CPC NMU Committee, reflected on the deep-rooted connection and geographical proximity between the two sides, acknowledging their long-standing collaborative efforts across multiple domains. He emphasized that this cooperation agreement symbolizes a joint commitment to advancing "new medical science" and exemplifies a constructive exploration of integrating medicine and art. Lan Qing aspired for both universities to harness this opportunity to cultivate innovative thinking, deepen collaborative efforts, and engage in comprehensive cooperation in areas such as talent training, scientific research, and social services. He looked forward to the partnership facilitating a deeper integration of medicine and humanities education, thereby contributing to the regional economic and social development. 

Yuan Jingyu, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Education Department, stated in his speech that the cooperation agreement between NMU and NUA is of great significance in promoting the deep integration of humanities and arts education with medical specialties, and enhancing the diverse and distinctive development of both schools. It is also an innovative initiative to improve the quality of talent training and schooling level, and is a concrete manifestation of fully implementing national strategies of Healthy China and innovation-driven development. He hopes this cross-disciplinary cooperation will bring new opportunities for collaboration between the two universities and inject new vitality into the development of higher education in Jiangsu.
