Professor Giles W. L. Boland of Harvard Medical School Visits NMU

On February 18th, Professor Giles W. L. Boland, expert in radiology, visited NMU. As the Director of Medical Imaging of Brigham and Women's Hospital, he is the Special Achievement Professor in Medical Imaging of Philip H. Cook Award of Harvard Medical School and also enjoys high reputation in worldwide medical imaging community. Wang Changqing, Chancellor of the university, relevant personnels of the Chancellor’s Office, Department of International Cooperation & Exchange, and School of Medical Imaging attended the meeting.


After getting to know about NMU in great detail, Professor Boland expressed the hope to strengthen the cooperation with NMU and School of Medical Imaging. Chancellor Wang Changqing said that School of Medical Imaging, as a newly established school with its own discipline features and advantages, should jointly promote the construction of medical imaging and continuously improve the teaching and research level with Harvard University. Chancellor Wang Changqing also issued the appointment letter of visiting professor for Professor Boland.


During the visit, Professor Giles W. L. Boland observed the Exhibition of the History of NMU, the First Affiliated Hospital of NMU and the Affiliated Jiangning Hospital. Also, he made an academic report named The Next Generation of Radiologists: Machines and People for our teachers and students.
