The department of Diagnostic Radiology of our school was established in 1949 and was the first batch of master's degree program approved by the Ministry of Education after the Cultural Revolution. The medical imaging field was established in 1993 approved by the Ministry of Education. It was named The Key Specialty of the Province Health Department in 2001, and approved for awarding PH.D in 2005. Also, it was rated as the College Specialty in Construction Units in Jiangsu Province, was authorized for the unique National resident/specialist training center in Jiangsu Province by the Ministry of Health in 2006.
We established the Medical Imaging Labora tory on Wutai campus in 2004 and built a new laboratory on Jiangning campus in July 2006, set up the Medical Imaging Teaching and Experimental Center which include diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology , ultrasound medical, imaging technology and nuclear medicine. The Experimental and Teaching Demonstration Center was established in 2007. We increased the investment in hardware, software and personnel, as well, we published several papers and got several teaching subjects. Our students won the first prize in the National Clinical Skills Competition.
Our director implemented two institutions: Management and Director Responsibility. The director of the center is Professor Shi Hai-bin. His specialty is interventional radiology and conducting research in two areas: (1) Animal and clinical studies about stem therapy for ischemic stroke using interventional (2) Clinical and experimental study of interventional therapy for liver cancer.
There are two professors and chief physicians, nine associated professors and deputy director of Physicians, three Doctor Tutors and eight Master Instructors, 10 (38.4%) of them with PH.D degree and more than 22(84.6%) with Master's degree. Keep their pace with the international standards and continue doing research work in their fields.
The total area of our center is 1656 m2 . There are around 1052 pieces of equipment, worth 16.21 million RMB, which are used both in medical and teaching practice. Our center took all of the experimental teaching curriculum, involving 18 professionals, and more than 70,000 lessons every year.
We have achieved resource sharing and integration by connecting the laboratory center, PACS and RIS. The center has quality courses and Experiment Center website, including syllabus, courseware, online forum and teacher hotline. Student can finish previewing and reviewing online.
Our center undertook 28 research works including 4 National Natural Scientific Foundation programs, 10 Teaching Research programs. We compiled 15 medical books and received 25 research awards, including Chinese Medical Science and Technology Progress Award. Hundreds of papers were published, which includes more than 100 SCI papers. In 2009-2018, the employment rate of our Department were 97.14%, 100% and 100% respectively.
The Medical Imaging Teaching and Experimental Center set clinical, teaching and research as a whole, has become ak ey specialties with great influence.
