On the occasion of the seventh China’s Doctors’ Day, The National Committee of the Chinese Educational, Scientific, Cultural, Health and Sports Workers’ Union announced the inaugural list of 20 “National Medical Specialists.” Professor Kong Xiangqing from the First Affiliated Hospital of NMU has been honored with this prestigious title.

This selection aligns with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, particularly his important insights on the working class and trade union work. The initiative aims to enhance the construction of health and medical talent teams while promoting the spirit of exemplary workers, the work ethic, and the spirit of craftsmanship. Launched in March this year, the first “National Medical Specialists” selection involved a rigorous process, including recommendations, expert reviews, media evaluations, meetings, and public announcements. From 64 candidates nominated by 29 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and hospitals directly under the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, 20 were selected for their outstanding contributions and leadership in the medical and health field. Their recognition serves to highlight the exemplary roles of these professionals in advancing healthcare in China.

As a leading figure and head of the “National Huang Danian-style Teaching Team,” he prioritizes talent development and team building, inspiring young medical professionals with his exceptional skills, advanced concepts, and steadfast commitment. His accolades include the “National May 1 Labor Medal,” “National Excellent Scientist,” and recognition as an “Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert of the National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project. ”
