Welcome to Nanjing Medical University!

Established in 1934, NMU is the cradle of higher medical education in China. Over the past 8 decades, NMU has been sparing no effort and hardworking in practicing the university motto of “Pursue Excellence with Erudition, Reach Perfection with Morality”. It has made remarkable achievements for the development of China’s medical and healthcare cause and the health for mankind, blazing a featured pathway of building a world-class medical university here in China.

Currently, NMU has 8 Level-1-discipline doctoral degree conferring programs, 54 Level-2-discipline doctoral degree conferring programs, and 4 interdisciplinary doctoral degree conferring programs. Among them, the Public Health and Preventive Medicine of NMU is rated A+ in 54 participating universities nationwide; 9 disciplines rank top 1% in the world ESI ranking; Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology, and Toxicology disciplines rank top 1‰ in the world ESI. There are 5 academicians, from the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Academy of Sciences (CAS) (including 3 academicians double-appointed by both the CAE and CAS), 1 foreign member of the USA National Academy of Medicine, 313 full professors, 268 associate professors, 759 Ph.D. supervisors, and 2,477 master supervisors; NMU now has 1 state key laboratory, 1 state-level international joint research center, 1 provincial and 1 ministerial collaborative innovation center, and 28 provincial/ministerial key laboratories (engineering centers, collaborative innovation centers).
