“Study in China” - The First Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition for International Medical Students was held on December 9th, 2017 in Tianjin Medical University. After a preliminary and a final round of competition, NMU delegation achieved great success and won the Excellent Team Award (the highest prize), Best Teamwork Award, Single Excellent Award in Basic Surgical Skills and Single Excellent Award in Ob-Gyn Skills.
This competition was organized by China Association for International Education (CAFSA) and participated by 26 institutions. The competition aimed to set up the Chinese brand of medical study and strengthen the ability of medical schools to provide clinical skills and professional qualifications to foreign students in China and to promote the international development of medical education and training of Chinese brands of internationally qualified medical talents. The preliminaries adopted the track style, and all the teams needed to complete 1 case of clinical inquiry and 6 cases of clinical operations in 40 minutes. The final competition was a comprehensive teamwork on first aid related operation.
The good results of the competition are not only a reflection of the training quality of MBBS program in our university, but also an important achievement of NMU in building a first-class medical talents training cradle. This will further enhance the reputation of our clinical medicine (English taught) brand and expand the university's influence overseas, especially in the “Belt and Road” countries.
