The 48th NMU Sports Meeting Successfully Concluded

From Oct. 26th-27th, the 48th Sports Meeting of Nanjing Medical University was successfully held. Leaders of NMU Wang Changqing, Shen Hongbing, Shi Jinlou, Wang Ruixin, Lu Xiang, Wang Lin, Ma Shuiqing, Xu Shan, Hu Zhibin and Ji Yong, members of sports meeting presidium, deans and directors, athletes and representatives of teachers and students attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Shi Jinlou, deputy secretary of NMU Party Committee, who is also the secretary of NMU Commission for Discipline Inspection as well as director of NMU Physical Culture and Sports Commission.

President Shen Hongbing delivered a speech in the opening ceremony to express his congratulations and reviewed the progress of NMU sports work in the past year. He pointed out that to develop sports is not only an important part of the construction of a healthy and high-level NMU but a major form of implementing the fundamental task of moral education. He expected all teachers, students and medical staff could actively participate in the sports activities so as to enhance physical fitness, cultivate sentiments, nurture spirits of teamwork and exercise the will and quality, and finally create a healthy campus full of vitality and people involvement. Besides, Gulilalai Nijiati and Wu Yingcheng took the vow respectively on behalf of athletes and referees. Prof. Wang Changqing, secretary of NMU Party Committee, announced the opening of the 48th sports meeting.

With the theme of ‘National Fitness, Healthy China’, the sports meeting of this year attracted 21 teams from different administrative departments, schools and affiliated hospitals and over 1,600 athletes to participate. After two days of fierce competition, most of the athletes achieved excellent results in various events while inheriting the spirit of sports and sharing the joys of competition. School of Basic Medical Science, the Fourth School of Clinical Medicine and School of International Education ranked top three among the student teams. Meanwhile, the Second School of Clinical Medicine and the Second Affiliated Hospital, the First School of Clinical Medicine and the First Affiliated Hospital, the Fourth School of Clinical Medicine, the Affiliated Sir Run Run Hospital, School of Basic Medical Science and School of Public Health (faculty team) ranked top six.

During the closing ceremony, leaders of NMU presented the PE Morality Award to School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Basic Medical Science, the First School of Clinical Medicine and the First Affiliated Hospital, presented Outstanding Organization Award to the Fourth School of Clinical Medicine and presented Extraordinary Contribution Award to the Team of Retired Personnel. Shi Jinlou, deputy secretary of NMU Party Committee, made a wish in his speech that all the faculty and students could bring the indomitable fighting sprits to their work and study, devote themselves to the more wonderful NMU causes, show others NMU spirits and strive to build NMU as a world renowned high-level research medical university with distinctive features.
