The Times Higher Education (THE) released its World University Rankings 2018 on September 5, 2017. Nanjing Medical University is listed again in the rankings and takes a position in the group of 601-800. Mainland China claims 63 universities in the rankings while NMU occupies the 36th place among them.
NMU is in the fifth place among nine universities from Jiangsu Province selected by THE. Two independent medical universities nationwide entered the rankings, which are Capital Medical University and Nanjing Medical University.
From 2004-2009, THE and Quacquarelli Symonds published jointly the annual Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings. Starting in 2010, THE has been issuing its own World University Rankings for seven consecutive years, which has become one of the most influential and prestigious world university rankings. The universities were judged by such calibrated performance indicators as teaching, research, international outlook and social prestige to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.
