Vice President Wang Lin led a delegation and visited the University of Manchester and Queen's University Belfastin September 2017. The members of the delegation included directors and deans of the Department of Teaching Affairs, Graduate School, School of Basic Medical Sciences, and Department of International Cooperation & Exchange.
During the visit in the University of Manchester, the two parties signedan agreement of “3+2” joint training program in basic medicine, which marksa new round of cooperation between NMU and the University of Manchester. Besides, both partied have launched discussions on joint PhD training program, bilateral academic meeting, scientific research cooperation and faculty & student exchange. Meanwhile, the delegation also paid visits to the School of Dentistry, some labs of basic medicine, library and teaching center in the University of Manchester. During the visit in Queen's University Belfast, the two parties held discussions on vocational training for clinical pharmacists and reached a preliminaryconsensus, and exchanged ideas on joint training program and student exchange. The delegation also visited labs of clinical pharmacy, library and basic teaching building during the visit.
The University of Manchester was founded in 1824 and is one of the top 30 universities in the world. It is also one of the famous Red Brick Universities and member of the Russell Group. Since 2012, NMU has frequent cooperation with the University of Manchester and the two sides have conducted short-term student visiting programs and joint training programs. University of Manchester has remained an important cooperative partner of NMU.
Queen's University Belfast locates in the capital city of Northern Ireland and was founded by Queen Victoria in 1845. It also belongs to the Russell Group and obtains a top medical school and engineering school in the UK, which has enjoyed a long teaching & research history and great achievement in academic field. The Kangda College has signed a“4+1” joint training program in pharmacy and biomedical technology in November 2016 with Queen’s University Belfast. At present, 10 Kangda students have been selected into the program and will be enrolled as master’s students in Queen's University Belfast.
