On May 2nd, 2017, the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education of the Ministry of Education unveiled the voting outcomes of universities and colleges that were assessed in 2016. Nanjing Medical University has passed the accreditation through judgment of the working committee and online publicity. The validity term is eight years. It is a major achievement in undergraduate education since NMU got “Double Excellence” in higher education evaluation by MOE in 2004.
NMU started the accreditation work in June 2014 and submitted the application in April 2015. Nine experts from both China and abroad conducted a site survey from November 6 to 10, 2016. They offered earnest guidance and optimistic assessment in terms of management concepts, educational facilities and capacities, educational quality and outcomes. During the preparation of accreditation of medical education, NMU paid great attention to all the work, and all the teachers, administrative staff and students worked in unity to do self-evaluation and construction, laying a solid foundation for success.
Through the work centering on the accreditation of medical education, NMU further ensures its purpose and aim of education, promotes the educational model transforming to students-oriented, builds the medical talent nurturing system based on HOPE (Humanity-oriented medical education, Outcome-based education, Problem-based learning and Evidence-based education) concept and I-CARE model, which are of great significance for comprehensively enhancing the capability of medical education and talent nurturing.
