From March 31 to April 9, 2017, led by President Shen Hongbing, a Nanjing Medical University delegation visited Johns Hopkins University, University of South Carolina and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences of the US. The members of the delegation included deans of the School of Public Health and School of Health Policy & Management, and directors of the President Office of NMU and International Cooperation & Exchange Department.
During their visit of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the two sides exchanged ideas and achieved initial intentions on such public health issues as joint training of doctoral students, research collaboration and students exchange.
The delegation was received by President of the University of South Carolina at his residence. They discussed 3+2 joint training program for students majoring in healthcare management, undergraduate student exchange, young teacher training and research collaboration. Both sides hoped that they could conduct comprehensive cooperation in public health and healthcare management. President Shen Hongbing met with six NMU students exchanged to the University of South Carolina and their supervisors. He encouraged these students to treasure this opportunity to learn more and make contribution to the exchanges and cooperation between two universities.
NMU has already established good cooperative relations with US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, two sides made substantive discussions on academic exchanges, joint training of doctoral students, summer intern program and introducing post-doctoral fellows to work in NMU.
During the visit, President Shen also met with NMU alumni and visiting professors who work in Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He showed them the latest development of Nanjing Medical University and hoped that they would concern themselves more closely with NMU and support its international cooperation and exchanges.
