On January 12, 2017, the Evaluation Report on Chinese Universities and Disciplines (2017-2018) was issued by the Research Center for China Science Evaluation (RCCSE), the Evaluation Center for China Education Quality (ECCEQ) and the Network of Science and Education Evaluation in China. Nanjing Medical University ranked 43rd among 973 universities in competency of scientific and technological innovation. 15 universities in Jiangsu Province were included in the top 100 of China, and NMU ranked 6th among them. 10 medical universities nationwide were among the top 100 and NMU was the second among them.
The National Rankings of Scientific and Technological Innovation Competency issued by RCCSE is an influential evaluation system that adopts objective indexes to rank universities, including such three primary indexes as teaching resources, teaching standards and scientific research, and 12 secondary indexes.
