MOE Accreditation of NMU Clinical Medicine Program Has Come to a Successful End

The accreditation of NMU clinical medicine program by the Ministry of Education has been conducted in Nanjing from Nov. 7th to 10th, 2016. In the four days, the accreditation panel held report meetings, paid visits to the Department of Anatomy, Experimental Teaching Center of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Medical Simulation Center. They attended different levels of symposiums, inspected relevant departments and teaching & research sections of the 1st Affiliated Hospital, 2nd Affiliated Hospital and BenQ Hospital and listened to the teaching affairs report. They listened to classes which were randomly selected, and made deep inspections of the teaching condition of clinical medicine program of Nanjing Medical University.

The accreditation report meeting was held in Room D201 of Dexin Building on Nov. 7th. Accreditation panel members including Drs. Sun Baozhi, Bian Junhui, Peter Ellis, Richard Hays, Jia Hongti, Qu Jia, Xiao Haipeng, Shen Li and Liu Xiaomeng, Mr. Hong Liu, Deputy Director-General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and Mr. Xu Qing, Deputy Director of Higher Education Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, attended the meeting. The whole university leadership, members of teaching affairs committee, all of the teaching supervisors, deans and directors of each school, department and affiliated hospital as well as teacher and student representatives were also present at the meeting. Vice President Wang Lin hosted the opening ceremony.

Party Secretary Chen Qi made a welcome speech. He hoped that through the “group diagnosis and prescription” from the accreditation panel, the clinical medicine teaching and education level of NMU could be improved. Deputy Director-General Hong Liu introduced the recent development of medical higher education of Jiangsu Province and he acknowledged the role that NMU has played as the sole pilot university to conduct “5+3+X” program in Jiangsu in order to make a comprehensive reform of the postgraduate training, which has further promoted the medical educational reform. Dr. Sun Baozhi, the leader of the panel, hosted the report meeting and President Shen Hongbing made a self-evaluation report of clinical medicine program of NMU.

After 4 days’ site inspection, the accreditation panel convened a feedback meeting on Nov. 10th. They made a preliminary report on the strengths and weaknesses in different aspects including clinical medicine teaching & education, assessment of students, academic staff & students, program evaluation, scientific research, administration and so on. The accreditation of clinical medicine program of NMU by MOE has come to a successful end.
