On the morning of October 10th, 2016, the opening ceremony for the Exhibition of the History of Nanjing Medical University was held on Jiangning campus. The ceremony was attended by nearly 200 participants, including university leaders, namely Chen Qi, Zhou Yafu, Shi Jinlou, Xia Youbing, Wang Ruixin, Lu Xiang, Li Qianqing and Ma Shuiqing, retired leaders and professors, mid-level administrators, new staff, representatives of teachers and students. Zhou Yafu, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of NMU hosted the ceremony.
Chen Qi, Party Secretary of NMU, expressed his gratitude in his speech to the designers, constructors and participants for their efforts and wisdom during the past three years. He briefly reviewed the eighty-two years of development history of Nanjing Medical University. He pointed out that university history is the hallmark of its development and is the epitome of great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. He hoped that we can well construct and make full use of university history to inherit university culture. We should vividly tell the stories of NMU, deeply interpret the persons and events behind the stories; we should build the bridge of communication and strengthen ties with alumni and the society; we should shape university spirits, spread the culture of university history and crystallize NMU spirits.
Shi Jinlou, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of NMU, announced the notice to establish the association of university history research, which will be beneficial for discovery, interpretation and research on the documents about university history and be better for passing down university culture.
In the nice melody of new university anthem, Secretary Chen Qi, Wang Xuehao, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chen Jiazhen and Zhang Zhensheng, former leaders of NMU, unveiled the plaque of the Exhibition of the History of Nanjing Medical University. All participants visited the Exhibition afterwards.
