A signing ceremony between the Second Affiliated Hospital and Rehab Nursing Home was held on April 6, 2016. President Ji Guozhong, on behalf of the Second Affiliated Hospital, signed the contract with Rehab Nursing Home to form a new medical association characterized by a combination of medicine and nursing. President Ji unveiled the plaque of ‘Membership of the Second Affiliated Hospital’. Relevant administrative directors attended the signing ceremony.
The establishment of Rehab Nursing Home was authorized by Nanjing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning and Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau. With a floor area of 5,300 square meters, it has 300 beds and offers high-standard nursing services. Building the new type of medical association will help both sides to explore a brand new model of combination of clinical medicine and nursing, to provide high-level medical services to residents by the means of primary diagnosis in communities, two-way referral system, different pathways for acute and chronic treatments, and integration of general hospitals and community service centers. All these actions will fully display the features of public welfare of public hospitals.
At present, China is the only country with over 100 million senior citizens, and the number is increasing at a rate of 3 percent every year. Aging problem leads to the rising number of disabled and semi-disabled elderly, therefore the issue of taking care of senior citizens is cropping up. Building such a medical association will facilitate the construction of old-age service systems, satisfy the people’s ever-increasing need, thus making contributions to a harmonious society.
The Second Affiliated Hospital will guarantee a smooth green channel of emergency service 24 hours a day, diagnose and examine old patients transferred from Rehab Nursing Home. If necessary, the hospital will dispatch relevant medical experts to hold consultations in the nursing home. Besides, the hospital will provide voluntary medical service and health consultation for the elderly living in the nursing home.
