Drexler Led an Austrian Delegation to NMU

On the afternoon of April 5th, 2016, an Austrian delegation of 20 members led by Mr. Christopher Drexler, Minister of Science, Health and Nursing of the State of Styria, visited Nanjing Medical University. President Shen Hongbing received the delegation on Jiangning Campus. Mrs. Silvia Neureiter, Consul-General of the Republic of Austria in Shanghai, Deputy Secretary-Generalof Jiangsu Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and relevant officials from the President’s Office, Department of Science & Technology, School of Nursing and Department of International Cooperation and Exchange attended the meeting.

President Shen Hongbing gave the guests a brief introduction to NMU while Mr. Gerd Hatinger, CEO of GGZ (Geriatrischen Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz), presented the recent development situation of his institution. Both parties intended to conduct collaboration and exchange in the field of geriatric nursing and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Academic & Research Collaboration at the closing of the meeting.

Just before visiting NMU, the Austrian delegation had attended a meeting hosted by Vice Governor Zhang Lei and signed a memorandum of understanding between Jiangsu Province and the State of Styria. Vice President Wang Lin was invited to represent NMU at the meeting.

Styria is the second largest state of Austria, which is located in the southeastern part of the country, with the capital city being Graz. GGZ provides first-class professional services in the fields of senior citizens’ health care construction & design, geriatric nursing consulting and training of professional personnel among European countries.
