Nanjing Medical University Cancer Center and University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center Signed Cooperation Memorandum

Director of University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center Dr. Mark Evers and Associate Director Dr. Daret St. Clair visited our university in the afternoon of October 8, 2014. President Shen Hongbing and senior officials from the Department of Science and Technology,Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and Nanjing Medical University Cancer Center attended the meeting with relevant experts in the Suiyue Pavilion.

President Shen expressed his appreciation for these foreign guests visiting our university at its 80th founding anniversary. Then he went on to give a comprehensive introduction of the development of our university and the condition of Nanjing Medical University Cancer Center. Dr. Mark Evers also introduced University of Kentucky and Markey Cancer Center in detail. Both sides showed interest in the similar research area and hope to deepen the cooperation through the exchange of faculty and students, clinical trials and scientific research. After the meeting,President Shen and Director Mark Evers signed a cooperation memorandum.

University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has been the only National Cancer Institute-designated research institute in Kentucky since July,2013. During over 30 years of development since its foundation in 1983, Markey Cancer Center has made great achievements in the field of clinic medicine,advanced research,cancer prevention and education. MCC has undoubtedly played an important role in cancer treatment and prevention in Kentucky, a state with high cancer incidence and high mortality rate.
