Karolinska Institutet delegation led by Dr. Kristina Burström visited Nanjing Medical University

On Oct. 17th, 2014, a delegation of five scientists from Karolinska Institutet, led by Associate Professor of Health Economics Dr. Kristina Burström, the director of the Health Outcome and Economic Evaluation Research Group, visited our University. Party Committee Secretary Chen Qi received the guests in the Suiyue Pavilion, accompanied by senior officials from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Public Health and School of Health Policy and Management.

During the meeting, Secretary Chen Qi commented on the prominent level of research and technology in Karolinska Institutet, and expressed intent to further cooperation with Karolinska Institutet spearheaded by the School of Health Policy and Management. Such cooperation could improve a number of relevant fields in our University. Dr. Kristina Burström gave a general introduction of their research team and the situation of international cooperation in Karolinska Institutet, and expressed a desire to continue extensive cooperation. Both parties discussed the means of collaboration on health research, health personnel training, exchange program for faculty and joint training programs for both doctoral and master students.

Karolinska Institutet is among the top-notch medical institutions in Europe and in the world. It is also best known as being charged with selection of recipients of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Presently the Institutet consists of 22 departments, more than 600 research groups, over 1,500 teachers and researchers and more than 2,000 doctoral students. Its strength in scientific research has attracted many overseas students, including Chinese students, to come to Karolinska Institutet to study.
