7th World Cancer Congress and 5th World Neurotalk Congress Held in Nanjing

The 7th Annual World Congress of Cancer and the 5th Annual World Congress of Neurotalk were held at Nanjing's Jinling Conference Centre from May 16th to May 18th 2014, sponsored by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs Research Center for International Talent, the Nanjing Medical University Second Affiliated Hospital, and the Nanjing branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. These congresses were well supported by organizations for cancer research and foundations for cancer control from all over the world, and covered widely in mainstream media.

At the opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were given by respected experts, namely Mr Chen Huabei, director of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs Information Research Center for International Talent, Prof. Lu Xiang, vice president of Nanjing Medical University and president of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Prof. Nick Rawlins, vice chancellor of Oxford University, and Ms. Hua Jing, deputy mayor of Nanjing. Sixteen volunteers from Nanjing Medical University also participated in the ceremony.

The World Congress of Cancer, after six years of development, has become one of the most specialized conferences on cancer research in the world. The theme of this year's congress was “A Blueprint of the War on Cancer for the Next Decade”, on which subject world-renowned specialists, academicians, and doctors from various countries were invited to lecture on the latest progress in cancer research. This year's congress focused on screening, detection, control and prevention of cancer.

The 5th World Neurotalk Congress was held simultaneously, providing a platform for experts from all over the world to exchange ideas and establish cooperative relationships.
