All the funded top-notch grants guarantee innovative research activities that integrate basic and clinical aspects to promote development of diverse disciplines in areas of reproductive health, cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases. For example, guided by clinical problems and led by clinical applications, collaborations are forged between basic and clinical research teams in the National Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine. Notably, Pro.JiahaoSha's group, for the first time in the world, differentiated mouse embryonic stem cells in vitro into functional sperm cells, bringing hope for individuals with azoospermia to have children. This discovery  has received high recognition worldwide and deemed as a major advance in the field of stem cell research. In addition, the “Collaborative Innovation Center for Cardiovascular Diseases Translational Medicine”, led by Pro. Qi Chen, focuses on cardiovascular research under the guidance of new target discovery, new drug research & development, new model construction and the clinical application of novel technologies. To achieve this, coordinated endeavors are established among universities, hospitals, research institutes and enterprises, to promote innovative research on basic science, new drugs with their R&D and their unified clinical applications, ultimately rendering Jiangsu province the lead in prevention & cure of cardiovascular diseases across the nation and major influences across the globe. In particular, the school of BMS have published an array of high-impact articles in top journals like Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Genetics,Nature Communications and others. Moreover, our faculty won the First Prize of National Science and Technology Award (ranking 4th) once, the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Award (ranking 2nd) once and the First Prize of Provincial Science and Technology Award 8 times. Impressively, the school has been granted with numerous patents that substantially help the advancement of translational medicine, assuring the school with unique characteristics and advantages.
