  • Overview

As a key university in Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Medical University was founded in 1934 under the name of Jiangsu Provincial Medical College and was renamed Nanjing Medical University in 1993. The post-graduate education of the University can be traced back to the 1940s. As one of the pioneering higher education institutions, the University started to enroll post-graduate students in 1942. In 1981, the University was accredited as one of the first institutions to grant master and doctoral degrees. In 1986, the Department of Post-graduate Studies was established for the administration of the post-graduate programs. In 2012, the Department was reorganized into the Graduate School, consisting of Office of Enrollment and Career Management, Office of Program Development, Office of Teaching Affairs, etc. The University annually enrolls approximately 1000 full-time students, including about 140 doctoral candidates. Currently, the University has over 2700 post-graduates, 400 of whom are doctoral candidates.
 
Major Functions:
Enrollment and development of doctoral and master students, degree awarding, selection and management of supervisors for doctoral and master students, program development, management of post-doctoral studies, and career advice for doctoral and master students.
