Nanjing First hospital was founded in 1936 and was approved “Level Three-class A hospital” in 1995 by the ministry of Public Health of China..It has 2169 active Staff, 1665 designed beds ,10.64 million fixed Assets at present. Nanjing First hospital also has one state-level key Specialty: Department of cardiovascular surgery,two Key medical disciplines of Jiangsu “Developing health by technology and education”project: Cardiovascular & Medical Imaging - Nuclear Medicine; thirteen Provincial-level Clinical Key Specialty; nine municipal-level Clinical Key Specialty; one training base for PCI of Ministry of Health; two training base for Endoscopic treatment techniques of Ministry of Health：Orthopedics and Arthritis Department、 Thoracic surgery Department。Nanjing First hospital became one of the first-batch Institution of national drug clinical trials in 2001.It implemented ISO9001 quality management system in 2002 , meanwhile obtaining the certificate from BSI company in UK. The hospital is the third clinical medical college affiliated with Nanjing Medical University. There are 39 PhD and master programs in the hospital. It also has 53 Professors and 216 associate Professors .Each year, over 1000 students are training in the hospital .The hospital has accepted foreign interns of Nanjing Medical University from 2009.
