Discipline introduction:

This discipline is under Public Administration, covering sub-disciplines such as Social Medicine, Health Management, Health Economics, Health Insurance, Public Health Policy, Health Law, and Hospital Management. The principal research subjects include society, community and its health institutions and health personnel. By applying the theories and methods of social science and management science to health management, this discipline aims to unveil the influence of social, cultural and economic elements on population health, promote the development and reform of health care, and improve the efficiency and benefit of health care.

Courses and requirements:

The credit system is implemented in the master program. The master students should acquire at least 30 credits before thesis defense. Main courses include Public policy analysis, Public management, Non-profit organization management, Social research methods, Advanced health economics, Field survey techniques, Interpersonal and doctor-patient relationship, Medical social work, etc.

Master students will be dispatched to universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education or other universities affiliated to Jiangsu Province acknowledged by the Training Office of the Graduate School in Nanjing Medical University to study some courses. Our university will acknowledge the credits if master students pass the courses.

 “Health policy and management” is a cross discipline between medicine, public health and public management. This discipline focus on people's health and related determents, and how to effectively organize and manage, provide medical and health services related to the corresponding theory, methods and techniques. This discipline aims to unveil the influence of social, cultural and economic elements on population health, promote the development and reform of health care, and improve the efficiency and benefit of health care.
