Li Lanqing


Li Lanqing started his education at our university (Jiangsu Institute of Medical Administration then) in 1947. He was once a standing committee member of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the State Council. In 1993, when he visited his alma mater, he wrote an inscription for the university: “Work hard to train more outstanding talents with noble medical ethics and excellent medical skills.” In 2003, he visited again and wrote the name “Time Pavilion” for the building designed to commemorate the university’s 70th anniversary. In 2011, he gave his alma mater a copy of “Autumn Waters”, a collection of works in his seal cutting exhibition. In 2014, again he wrote an inscription “Noble Ethics, Excellent Skills” for the university’s 80th anniversary.


Wang Xuehao


Wang Xuehao graduated from our University’s Department of Clinical Medicine (Nanjing First Medical College then) in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree. He is a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and an expert in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. He is now the Director of the Institute of Liver Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University, Director of Organ Transplantation Key Clinical Department confirmed by National Health Commission , Director of the Key Lab for Liver Transplantation, Member of the Expert Group on Human Organ Transplantation, Director of Jiangsu Liver Transplantation Center, Leader of the Transplantation and Immunology Team of Chinese Medical Association’s Microbiology and Immunology Branch, Vice President of Jiangsu Medical Association. He is a pioneer in living-donor liver transplantation in mainland China. In 1986, he took the lead in using hepatic arteriography with iodinated oil for the diagnosis of liver cancer in China, which laid a foundation for the development of modern interventional therapy for liver cancer in China. He is also a pioneer of modern interventional therapy for liver cancer in China.


Wang Cunyu


Wang Cunyu majored in stomatology in our university (Nanjing Medical College then) in 1980. He is a foreign academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, an intellectual of the US National Academy of Medicine, a tenured chair professor at University of California. Prof. Wang’s research areas include the regulation and metastasis of tumor cell death, the pathogenesis of oral inflammation, bone loss in oral inflammation, metabolic bone loss, and molecular regulation of oral stem cell differentiation. He has published a number of important research papers in Science of the USA and Nature Medicine of the UK, and other world-class academic journals. He is one of the few first-class international scholars proficient in oral medicine and basic medicine.


Prof. Wang is also our university’s visiting professor. He has concerned himself with the development of his alma mater for many years. In 2004, for our university’s 70th anniversary, he visited us and addressed the ceremony as an outstanding alumnus. He often participates in academic exchanges and other activities. He has made great contributions to the improvement of his alma mater's scientific research and talent training.


GuDongfeng


GuDongfeng, male, born in 1958, graduated from Nanjing Medical University in 1983 and graduated from Peking Union Medical College in 1986 with a master’s degree. He studied at University of Minnesota, USA during 1990-1992 and at Heart Molecular Genetics Lab, University of Toronto, Canada in 1997, and the Department of Human Genetics, University of Southampton, UK during 1999-2000. He is a visiting professor at the Royal Society, UK. During 1994-1998, he was the Director of the Epidemiology Lab of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Currently, he is the Director of the Population Genetics and Crowd Prevention Lab; professor and doctoral supervisor at Peking Union Medical College ; part-time professor of epidemiology at Tulane University Medical Center ; visiting professor at the Department of Human Genetics, University of Southampton, UK ; member of Expert Committee of Human Genetic Resource Management, Ministry of Science and Technology ; council member of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association; Medical Science Advisor to Qinghai Provincial People’s Government ; member of the International Committee for the Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease and a member of the International Genetic Epidemiology Society. He became an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nov. 2017.
