On June 28th, 2018, to celebrate the official opening two years before, Sir Run Run Hospital affiliated with Nanjing Medical University held a serial celebration activities including inaugurating a memorial wall of Sir Run Run Shaw, launching second phase construction, signing cooperation and joint development contract and conducting the 2nd Forum on Construction and Development of Public Hospitals in New System.
The forum was the key activity of the serial celebration. The guests who attended the forum opening included Dr. Eden Woon, the consultant of the Shaw Foundation; Dr. Guangji Wang, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Lulu Tian, the deputy director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education; Songping Zhang, deputy director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government; Shaodong Li, the deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning; Yuwei Qi, the District Mayor of Jiangning District; the leadership of NMU, Prof. Changqing Wang, Prof. Hongbing Shen, Prof. Jinlou Shi, Prof. Xiang Lu, Prof. Jianqing Li, Prof. Shuiqing Ma and Prof. Shan Xu; and leaderships of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Education Department, Nanjing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, Nanjing Social Insurance Management Center, High-tech Zone of Jiangning, universities and colleges, other affiliated hospitals of NMU in Nanjing and Trinity Western University. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Xiang Lu, the Vice President of NMU and the President of Sir Run Run Hospital.
The President of NMU, Prof. Hongbing Shen, the Deputy District Mayor of Jiangning District, Xiumei Miao, Dr. Eden Woon and the Vice Director Shaodong Li delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Prof. Hongbing Shen fully recognized the uplifting staged achievements made by Sir Run Run Hospital since her opening. He expected that in the new era, Sir Run Run Hospital could seize the opportunity of second phase construction so as to further promote the connotation construction and speed up the construction of high-quality research-oriented hospital with first-class technique, equipment, service and management. Besides, Prof. Shen promised that NMU would provide more support to the new round high-quality development of Sir Run Run Hospital.
After the speech, the special consultant of the Shaw Foundation, the leaderships of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Jiangning District, NMU and Sir Run Run Hospital altogether pressed the launch button to announce the official initiation of the second phase construction of Sir Run Run Hospital. The Vice President Prof. Xiang Lu said that in the second phase construction, based on the advantage of NMU, Sir Run Run Hospital would introduce top experts, establish new medical centers including tumor medical center, cardiovascular center, maternal and child health center, international medical center and estimatedly, the hospital would increase 300 ward beds in the stage I and provide more comprehensive, more professional, more meticulous and high quality medical service to the citizens.
At the opening, a project signing ceremony was completed as well. Sir Run Run Hospital signed cooperation and joint development contract separately with United Health Care Global (UHCG), Nanjing Legend Biotechnology Company, Shanghai Kingwing Aviation Company and Shanghai MRobot Technology Company so as to strengthen the cooperation between hospital and companies to boost the high-quality development of Sir Run Run Hospital.
In the following forum, Academician Guangji Wang and Prof. Changqing Wang, the Party Secretary of NMU, delivered keynote speeches to probe into the innovation methods of construction and development of public hospitals under the new circumstance. Academician Guangji Wang introduced the application of new pharmaceutical technology in medical research and clinical medicine and pointed out that medical workers should continue to devote greater effort in exploration and practice of new pharmaceutical technology. Through the establishment of key technology system, they should implement accurate pharmaceutical service and boost the rapid development of accurate drug therapy. With the speech titled “Sir Run Run Hospital’s Two Years: Carrying the Torch of Kindness and Help ”, Prof. Changqing Wang reviewed the two years development of Sir Run Run Hospital and expected that the hospital would continue innovative development and provide better service to the citizens.
Before the forum opening, the special consultant of the Shaw Foundation, the leaderships of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of Jiangsu Education Department, NMU and Sir Run Run Hospital together inaugurated a memorial wall of Sir Run Run Shaw. On the memorial wall, vivid photos and words reviewed and exhibited the care and help from Sir Run Run Shaw and his wife to the hospital. By establishing the memorial wall, Sir Run Run Hospital stated that the whole staff would inherit Sir Run Run Shaw’s philanthropy spirit and insist the ideology of serving and benefiting the public.
